In light of recent developments in the international structure of obstacle sports and the integration process between the Federation International Obstacle Sports (FISO) and the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM), the O-Sport Association of the Islamic Republic of Iran (OSAIRI) announces its readiness to participate constructively and responsibly in the process of convergence, integration, and structural unification of obstacle sports & Modern Pentathlon at the national level.
The O-Sport Association of the Islamic Republic of Iran is among the early national structures to have established, developed, and organized obstacle and hybrid sports. Since 1393 (2014), the Ministry of Sport and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran has formally introduced the O-Sport Association as the body responsible for obstacle sports in Iran to the relevant authorities and institutions. This history represents an important part of the Association’s institutional, operational, and professional background in the development and organization of obstacle sports in Iran.
Throughout its years of activity, the O-Sport Association has developed extensive experience in the organization, development, and delivery of obstacle, hybrid, and related sports competitions and events. Its activities have covered a broad range of disciplines and formats, including Ninja, Chase Tag, OCR events in various disciplines and distances ranging from 100M to 21K, Adventure, Beach, TIRAZIS (Beach & Winter Hybrid Relay), Hybrid competitions, Fitness Racing, Hybrid Racing, and Obstacle Combat Sports in the AXAYA and OXIAN formats, as well as competitions and events based on or inspired by internationally recognized formats such as Spartan, Deka, HYROX, and Biathle.
The Association also has numerous active clubs and sports centers across different parts of the country. To date, 604 male and female coaches and judges have successfully completed official training and specialized courses under the supervision of the Association. In addition, thousands of active athletes across different age categories are engaged in training and competition through the Association’s clubs and affiliated sports centers in various obstacle, hybrid, and related disciplines. This broad human-resource, educational, and club-based capacity represents an important part of the national infrastructure developed for the promotion, education, talent development, organization, and delivery of obstacle sports in Iran.
Considering the membership of the O-Sport Association of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) and the developments within the international structure of obstacle sports, the Association believes that establishing a coherent, transparent, and coordinated national framework can contribute to the sustainable development of obstacle sports, the reduction of parallel structures, the preservation of existing records and capacities, the development of athletes, coaches, and judges, and the continuation of Iran’s official and effective participation in international competitions.
While fully respecting the laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the policies of the Ministry of Sport and Youth, and the decisions of the competent authorities, the O-Sport Association declares its readiness for dialogue, cooperation, and participation in expert and implementation processes related to the structural convergence and integration of obstacle sports & Modern Penathlon
This announcement does not constitute a declaration that an integration has already taken place or has been finalized. Rather, it expresses the Association’s readiness to actively and responsibly participate in a formal, expert-based, transparent process led by the competent national authorities, with the objective of contributing to a more coherent, transparent, and effective structure for the future development of obstacle sports in Iran.
Drawing on its history of activity since 2014, extensive experience in organizing national and international events, nationwide club network, 604 trained coaches and judges, and thousands of active athletes across different age categories, the O-Sport Association of the Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to contribute its existing capacities to the further development, organization, and advancement of obstacle sports in the country
